Décor Galore
When it comes to décor, we hate being hemmed in.
Home accessories boutique Buk & Nola seamlessly blends bohemian-Brit and Cali-cozy with scandesign and shabby-chic. We spotted nature-inspired Danish wallpapers (from $135/roll) and fern-print linen napkins ($42) beside a high-gloss Queen clock ($55) and Dachshund napkin holders (6/$30). We adored the in-house line of floral hanging lamps (from $40) and earthy pepper mills ($68) made from fallen Ontario tree branches.Like what you see? Fête the Feet
Aveda’s new series of foot treatments have made us hot to trot.
During our 90-minute Signature Pedicure ($85) our toes were slathered in gel then wrapped in hot towels to soften calluses. After being washed with Rosemary Mint cleanser, legs and feet were exfoliated with cooling salts (to boost circulation), slathered in a warm mask (to banish odor), massaged with hot stones and finished with Jojoba cream. After a lovely coat of Essie's Palmetto polish, we were sent off with a prescription for home care and spring in our step. Our hands are green with envy.

Bring it On
At Le Quartier Général, stylish decor, French bistro dishes and locally sourced ingredients are worthy of our impeccable SAQ selection.
We devoured appetizers like scallops in curried cream sauce and tartare du moment ($9) followed by savory Stanstead rabbit sausages ($29) served tongue-in-cheek with a side of Bugs Bunny carrots. Kalhua cheesecake for dessert? Wine not!

Trim the Fat
Mark Darcy held Bridget’s wobbly bits in high regard, but we’re ready to throw ours off the edge of reason.
We got help with our own unsightly inches at the Institut de Beauté Lorraine Termetz. Its VelaShape treatment uses cellulite-busting technology with rolling sensors to break up fat cells, infrared heat to melt away liquid fat, and bipolar radio frequency to filter toxins on your hips, thighs, buttocks or tummy. After eight pain-free sessions ($190 each) we’d lost a mighty three centimeters off our midsection.V. good! We’re officially tossing the granny pants.

Buoyant Bijoux
We do enjoy adorning ourselves in colourful baubles, but heavy statement pieces rather weigh us down.
Instead, we’re lightening our look (and our lobes) with Bijougraphie’s hand-painted wood-based jewellery from Montreal designer Mercedes La Rosa. For a fun, daytime pick-me-up, we love the pink scalloped Dearest Algy earrings ($45) and for soirées, the purple and gold Laureates Only brass chain pendant ($35) is positively perfect. Now we can strut around light as a feathered peacock.

Head Case
Finding a happy medium between bed-head and helmet hair can be challenge.
We’re taking charge of disheveled chic at Helmet, a new laid-back salon on Mount Royal East. Run by colourist Melanie Demers and cut 'n' colour man Jason Krejberg, it specializes in wash-and-go styles that make it easy to get out the door in the morning. Demers’ colour motto is simple: no stripes or chunky streaks, while Krejberg uses lots of under-cutting for layers and volume. We adore the salon’s turquoise accent wall, slate floors, and art deco accents. Even better? Cuts are only $50, leaving us heady with glee.

Back in the USSR
The fireplace is electric and we’re no Julie Christie, but now that Russia's Kusmi has opened its first North American boutique in Montreal, we’ll be surviving the chill with hot cups of brew.
The oldest purveyors of tea in the world, they carry over 100 top quality varieties (from $13.50/125g), including a few Russian blends we just adore: Spicy Kashmir Tchai, Green Troika with notes of bergamot, and soothing St. Petersburg made from citrus and caramel. Now all we need is a modern-day Omar Sharif to poor the water and winter can’t come soon enough.

Yo Yo Yogourt
We know we need our calcium, but there’s only so many glasses of milk a gal can drink. And cheese? Fabulous but fatty.
We’ve just discovered a solution that’s so delish, it’s almost too good to be true. Yeh! Yogourt offers frozen yogurt by the ounce (.48 cents/oz), self-served in a cheery pink shop. Low in fat (so the guilt factor is mercifully scant), choose from over a dozen flavors including green tea, cheesecake and mango. Add healthy toppings like flax seed and wheat germ or splurge your diet-points on chunks of decadent Kit Kat.Yeh! to that!

Mattress Missus
There’s little we won’t do for a good night’s rest, which may be why we’ve had our nose pressed up against the new Hästens' shop window.
With fans in high places, the luxurious Swedish bed company produces all-natural mattresses made from breathable wool, flax and horsehair. Best of all, no ugly floral patterns—instead, choose among 13 cotton checked prints (we love the silver grey or lime), so pretty you’ll want to design the rest of your bedroom around it.The King of Sweden and Angelina Jolie sleep on the top-of-the-line Vividus model, which costs $76,000, takes 200 hours to build and comes with its own brass nameplate. For the rest of us mortals beds start at five grand, but you can be sure that no pea will disrupt your sleep, princess.

Shady Lady
We like waxing nostalgic as much as anyone but if we see one more pair of red mock-Ray Bans, we’ll scream.
With just a few weeks left of summer, we’re choosing to focus on the sunny side of life through retro-inspired sunglasses from Carrera ($130). The gold and tortoise-shell Stroke shades (pictured) have a distinctly '80s vibe, while the line running down the side plants us firmly in the here-and-now. But because they look equally good on boys and girls, you’ll have to hide them from your honey. At Lunettes Solaris, 1206 Mont-Royal E., Montreal, 514-759-9469.
